K.ZIA & ZAP MARIE  will present you their ‘ANCESTRY IN PROGRESS’

Zap Mama aka Marie Daulne and her daughter K.ZIA together in concert at Sfinks Mixed!

What happens when a mother transmits on her passion to her daughter? – The perfect duet: two distinct universes coming together in a magical connection, sharing the power of their intergenerational feminine energy.

Belgian-Congolese Marie Daulne is an artist of many talents: she is a singer, composer, activist and polyphony singing teacher. Since the early 1990s, she has led Zap Mama, a polyphonic a cappella women’s quintet with which she has conquered world stages. She also effortlessly fuses music and fashion and infuses her ethnically inspired songs with a great dose of out-of-the-box musical globalism. This unique blend earned her a Grammy nomination. Daulne also launched the term ‘Afropean’ to name the existence of the bicultural generation of Afro-Europeans.

Her daughter K.ZIA was practically born on stage, and you can feel it. She toured as a background singer from Japan to the United States with her mother, or shared the stage with her Martinican father during his majestic Cirque du Soleil shows.
In 2017, she moved out from under her mother’s wings and headed to Berlin. A stunning singer-songwriter, she blends alternative R&B, soul, pop, trap and afrobeats into spirited music and her solo career was an instant hit.

Zap Mama first performed at Sfinks in 1993, and she has returned regularly ever since. K.ZIA played at both Sfinks Mundial and Sfinks Mixed last year.

Now they come together to Sfinks, a unique and beautiful fusion of exceptional talent – mother and daughter. From the mid-1990s, Marie Daulne added a touch of ‘urban style’ to her compositions – something daughter is sure to continue.

Zap Mama released her first best-of album in 2024. A wondrous selection from a sumptuous treasure trove with a musical, international collector’s value spanning more than 30 years. For Zap Mama, a unique opportunity to challenge the future via the foundations of the past. And what better way to do that than together with her daughter K.ZIA!
