Melo’Nomade

Frankrijk, Senegal

An encounter between African and European strings, between classical music, folk and blues.

The duo Melo’Nomade is made of Raphaële Murer, a classical cellist from Alsace, and Magou Samb, a guitarist and kora player, heir to the folk music of the Senegalese Lebou fishermen and a singer with a husky, bluesy voice.

‘Melo’Nomade’ delves into the soul of the kora, guitar and cello. Their project is a poetic journey based on Sufism and the nostalgic purity of strings. The result is a new soundscape where classical music from the West and afro-folk fuse into an original new entity.

Since its inception, the duo has performed on Parisian stages, including the Alhambra and the Petit Bain. They played live on France Musique’s OCORA programme, where they auditioned for the finalists of the ‘Prix des Musiques d’Ici 2017’, of which Magou Samb was one of the winners.
