Italian trance-folk music
Kalàscima is one of Italy’s most popular bands. Six friends from Salento, raised on the melodies and hypnotic rhythms of the ancient traditional ritual dance music of Taranta, reinvent the tradition with a wild mix of electronica, Balkan, Klezmer and Irish tunes.
They bring a collection of fascinating instruments including bagpipes, traditional flutes, ciaramella, launeddas, Italian organetto, percussion from southern Italy, alongside their modern instruments. Ancient meets modern music and the result is explosive, energetic and compelling.
Kalàscima has already toured Australia, Canada, USA, Ecuador, China, South Korea, India, Japan and all over Europe worldwide. Roskilde, Sziget, SXSW, Babel Med. Now they are settling down in Boechout!
