Ivory Coast’s Dobet Gnahoré is one of Africa’s hottest stars.
With her amazing voice, incredible dance moves, powerful charisma and impressive stage presence, Dobet Gnahoré captured her unique place among the other divas of African music such as Angelique Kidjo, Yemi Alade, Fatoumata Diawara and Oumou Sangaré.
Born into one of Ivory Coast’s most prestigious musical families – her father is the famous master – percussionist Boni Gnahoré – she grew up among music, dance, theatre, fashion and poetry. She has received many awards in her career, including a GRAMMY Award in 2010 for her collaboration with singer India.Arie.
Dobet mixes traditional acoustic music with modern Afropop full of danceable grooves and electronic beats. Her highly anticipated latest and sixth album ‘Zouzou’ (‘Angel’) will be released on 28 June 2024. Dobet Gnahoré dedicated this album to the youth who will define the continent’s future and serves as the launch of her new orphanage project in Côte d’Ivoire. She also invariably uses her words and image to empower a new generation of strong and independent African women.
